iColor™ Fluoro-Chromatic Imaging Cytometer
Introduced in the summer of 2004, the iColor™ Fluoro-Chromatic Imaging Cytometer is the newest offering in CompuCyte’s iGeneration suite of instruments. iColor is the first product on the market to allow simultaneous analysis of fluorescent and chromatically-stained specimens.
Product Launch: iColor with full microscope capability and confocal option

iColor combines the advantages of flow cytometry, fluorescence image analysis, and immunohistochemistry in one unique system. Flow cytometers have traditionally relied solely on measurements obtained from laser excitement of cellular specimens stained with fluorescent dyes. Microscopy systems, on the other hand, have traditionally focused on chromatically stained materials. The iColor Imaging Cytometer employs three lasers; green, blue, and red, to simultaneously measure both fluorescent light emitted by specimens stained with fluorescent dyes, and the light absorbance resulting from the application of chromatic stains to the same specimens. The resulting data and images provide detailed quantitative and morphological information, which previously would have required the use and expense of two or three different systems.

Features include:

  • Simultaneous measurement of chromatic and fluorescent staining
  • Detailed morphological and quantitative data output
  • Analysis of chromatically-stained specimens
  • Quantification of chromatic dye absorption
  • To provide flexibility in imaging, iColor uses 3 photomultiplier-tube (PMT) fluorescence detectors with interchangeable filter blocks, along with 3 solid-state absorbance/forward scatter detectors.
  • The ability to correct for spectral overlap
  • Autofocus for automated analysis
