Scientist, Cellular Analysis

Are you a senior-level cell biologist with a strong background in cell and molecular biology, with expertise in high-content cellular and tissue analysis, flow cytometry, or cellular imaging? Does your research background include a thorough knowledge of DNA damage and repair pathways, apoptosis, cellular and intercellular signaling? Do you enjoy exploring new approaches to solving problems, using the newest technologies and interacting with world renowned scientists?

CompuCyte Corporation develops, manufactures, and markets advanced quantitative imaging cytometry instrumentation for cell- and tissue-based analysis. Our laser scanning cytometry (LSC) technology and advanced software tools give investigators the power to combine high-content quantitative data analysis with images (morphology), for the most demanding research applications in biomarker discovery, target validation, drug safety testing, toxicology, and molecular pathology.

We are currently looking for an ambitious and motivated Applications Scientist to develop applications on our instrumentation, with a focus on cellular and inter-cellular signaling, DNA damage and repair pathways, undertaking cell-based research analyses and contract research studies, with the goal of expanding the range of applications for CompuCyte instrumentation.  This is an excellent opportunity to interact with key scientists from the world’s leading research institutions and pharmaceutical companies, taking responsibility for the Company's scientific activities, including:

  • Undertaking research analyses and studies to expand the range of cellular applications for CompuCyte instrumentation, and preparing publications and presentations of the results

  • Performing feasibility studies and analyzing data for potential customers and providing them with reports based on data generated from the studies

  • Developing LSC protocols and performing contract studies, particularly relating to pharmacodynamic marker evaluation in biomarker discovery programs and pre-clinical tri

To be successful in this position, you will be a motivated self-starter and have:

  • An advanced degree in the biological sciences

  • A deep knowledge of appropriate scientific methods and techniques. Laboratory experience in one or more of the following is a must: cellular and molecular biology, cellular immunology, high-content cellular analysis, cell surface and intracellular fluorescence labeling, DNA damage, repair, apoptosis, cell signaling

  • Technical skills: Expert-level knowledge of flow cytometry, fluorescent microscopy and image analysis

  • A portfolio of peer-reviewed publications and scientific presentations

  • Demonstrated ability to use and maintain complex optical and mechanical research instrumentation

  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, both oral and written, appropriate for a leadership position

  • First-rate technical writing skills

This position is based in our Westwood, Massachusetts offices and will involve some travel for presentations at scientific conferences, seminars, and meetings with leading research and pharmaceutical organizations.
